Appearance[]
Mao is an attractive girl with chin-length reddish-brown hair and reddish-hazel eyes.
She usually wears her school uniform with baggy socks, and has a green/blue ribbon tied to her hair.
Personality[]
Mao usually presents herself as a quiet, reserved girl who keeps to the edges of her class and mostly talks to Keiki and Shouma. Around Keiki she relaxes, showing a dry, teasing sense of humor and a low-key tsundere streak, often jabbing or pinching him when she’s embarrassed rather than being honest about how she feels. Despite her laid-back attitude, she genuinely worries about his well-being and often acts as a sounding board when he’s troubled.
Behind that calm exterior, however, Mao is an extreme fujoshi and a dedicated BL mangaka. She secretly ships Keiki and Shouma, turning their everyday interactions into material for her explicit doujin series and pushing the two boys together whenever she can. Once she goes into “fujoshi mode” she becomes obsessive and single-minded, staying up late to meet deadlines and even manipulating situations at school to gather more “reference” for her manga.
Mao’s biggest contradiction is that she harbors real romantic feelings for Keiki while simultaneously fantasizing about pairing him with Shouma. She becomes visibly upset and jealous when Keiki grows closer to other girls, yet lacks the courage to openly confess and instead hides behind her BL hobby and playful banter. This mix of insecurity, devotion to her readers, and secret one-sided love often leaves her torn between wanting Keiki’s happiness and clinging to the fantasies she’s built around him.

Keiki Kiryuu[]
They are close friends and Keiki states that she is easy to talk to. They are shown to be on quite friendly terms as shown when Keiki asked for advise from her, and the abuse she gives him when she is flustered mostly being her pinching/jabbing his side which shows her slightly tsundere side. She is shown to have concern for his well-being as when he was knocked out in a game of basketball, she stayed with him in the nurse's office until he came to. She is also hinted at having some feelings towards him as when he asks if she'd support him if he was interested in a girl, she said she wouldn't.
Shouma Akiyama reveals that Mao has been staring at Keiki at every chance she gets that he says is the sign of a maiden in love.
After Keiki questions Mao about what she is hiding they have somewhat of a falling out, but they eventually make up and she reveals her secret. She is a fujoshi and Mao's goal is to make Keiki get into a romantic relationship with Shouma. She nicknames Keiki "Cake-kun" in her manga, basing on a pun of his name. Despite this, she seems to have genuine feelings for Keiki, when she blames herself for not having the courage to be honest with him.
Later on, she also contemplates on stopping her fujoshi ways, in the hopes of getting into a normal relationship with Keiki.
Shouma Akiyama[]
Mao is friends with Shouma who enjoys hanging out with him and Keiki Kiryuu, but she also wants Shouma and Keiki to get in a romantic relationship as she is a fujoshi.

- Mao later reveals herself to being a fujoshi who wants to create a yaoi manga/doujin involving Keiki Kiryuu and Shouma Akiyama.
